As one can see, the Pokemon Company and Game Freak have decided to stick with the Grass, Fire and Water starters. The secondary typing for these Pokemon are not yet known and there is always the chance, however unlikely these days, that any of them may not end up having a second typing. Either way here is a look at each of them.

The grass starter, Sprigatito is very much resembling a cat Pokemon. In fact, it looks very similar to Litten from the Alola region but maybe with a less serious demeanor. Other than the leaf marking on its chest and face this new grass starter looks relatively generic.

Then comes the fire starter, Fuecoco. It looks like a dinosaur at first glance. Adding onto that, the small arms make it seem as though it could a tyrannosaurus rex-looking Pokemon which wouldn’t be the first as Tyrunt and Tyrantrum are similar. The last parts of note are the white part of the face which makes it look like a skull and the little sprouts at the top which makes it look a bit like an apple.

The last starter, Quaxly, the water one looks straight-up like Donald Duck. The hat along with it being a duck and water Pokemon means many players will likely be using the Disney character’s name during their playthrough. Outside of that, it looks almost like it is going be a captain or admiral based on the wing being flared out and the cap looking as such.

Overall, these are the first new Pokemon shown for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Generation 9.
