Pokemon Sword and Shield started the open-world aspect of the Pokemon series and many wondered where they would go next. That led to Pokemon Legends Arceus which was a true fully open-world experience for Pokemon fans for the first time. Many fans hoped that while Legends Arceus was good, the next generation of Pokemon would continue to add to this structure. From what was shown in the first-ever trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Pokemon main games will either be entirely or mostly open-world.
What was also shown in the first trailer for the generation 9 games was the starters. To potentially some fan’s disappointment, they will be sticking with the traditional Grass, Fire and Water starters but what their secondary typing will be is not known yet. Below is a look at the starters.

Also, the region looks to be vast but it was not initially known what area of the world Game Freak and the Pokemon Company was looking to base it on. There had been speculation of Greece, India and some other countries. For those who may not know, every generation of Pokemon is based on a real-world region. Now with generation 9 out there, fans will be speculating about everything that could be coming to the franchise.
