Trainers, it’s the last wave of the Meganium 7-Star Tera Raid. Players already most likely have a grasp on its moveset and how to bring it down. In this article, players will be able to read its official moveset and learn two Pokémon that can help them bring down this 7-Star Meganium.
Meganium’s Unrivaled Moveset
The second wave of the Meganium raid is active from April 12 to April 14. Without beating around the bush, this is its boss layout:
Level: 100
Ability: Leaf Guard
Nature: Impish
Tera Type: Psychic
Moves: Seed Bomb, Zen Headbutt, Body Press, Curse, Reflect, Light Screen, Bulldoze
This Meganium is a physical attacker with a nature that boosts its physical defense. Therefore, it’s imperative to come at this boss with special attacking Pokémon of Fire, Flying, Ghost, and Dark types.
Counters
Skeledirge
Skeledirge is outfitted to be one of the best special attacking grass and psychic killers. Using Torch Song (provided Skeledirge is holding Throat Spray), players can buff Skeledirge’s special attack through the roof. This would exploit Meganium’s lacking special defense regardless of type.
This will also buff other special moves like Shadow Ball, which will perfectly crush its psychic typing. Here is the full moveset:
Level: 100
Ability: Unaware (This way, Skeledirge can ignore Meganium’s screens and attempted stat buffs.)
Held Item: Throat Spray (Other people use Shell Bell for healing off of damage output, but Throat Spray can help make Torch Song instrumental for damage. It depends on the player’s play style.)
Nature: Modest
Tera Typing: Ghost or Stellar
Moves: Torch Song, Shadow Ball, Protect, Will-O-Wisp
For the last two moves, Meganium will disable Unaware at some point. Using protect can keep Skeledirge in the game. Will-O-Wisp will also dampen Meganium’s physical attacks. Use this at the first opportunity.
Malamar
The second counter on this list is Malamar. This psychic/dark Pokémon is another Pokémon that is a good choice to counter Meganium’s tera type. Malamar can also open up opportunities for Will-O-Wisp users by using Skill Swap to give Meganium Contrary (getting rid of Leaf Guard). This is the ideal set for Malamar.
Level: 100
Ability: Contrary
Nature: Adamant
Held Item: Metronome (Choosing Night Slash, for example, repeatedly will make it stronger with each hit)
Moveset: Skill Swap, Reflect, Night Slash, Player’s Choice
Having a reflect setter will also help fellow Skeledirge users stay in the game longer. Follow that up with metronome Night Slash and players will have a strong hitting dark type. For the 4th move, players can add anything they think will help them.
Conclusion
These are the counters and confirmed moveset for the 7 Star Meganium Raid in Scarlet and Violet. This won’t be a hard fight if players pair up Skeledirge and Meganium together. Have one carry the burden of support while the other goes full DPS. Working together, players will take Meganium down.
