Trainers, get ready to give your decks a spicy upgrade. Much like any other era of the card game, Scarlet and Violet’s expansions have been well-received by people. And as such, there are more interesting sets on the horizon. This piece will go over the currently known card list players can expect to get from Pokemon Obsidian Flames which comes out on August 11.

This set stands out as the first one that uses Tera-type ex Pokémon. These Pokémon use the same energy card type as their original type but carry the weaknesses and strengths of the shifted type. This can be advantageous to players as this would not compromise deck construction.
For example, a player running an electric deck could put in a strong card like a Tyranitar ex if it is Terastalized as an electric type. This would surprise other opponents and allow the user of the card to perform other strategies.
Experts on Bulbapedia also had this information to say:
“Obsidian Flames includes cards from the Japanese Ruler of the Black Flame expansion, the ex-Special Set, and the ex Start Decks. In addition, they also carry the remaining cards from the Triplet Beat, Snow Hazard, and Clay Burst; sets the company chose not to include in the Paldea Evolved set. Obsidian Flames contains 15 Pokémon ex, six Tera Pokémon ex, 12 illustration rare Pokémon, six special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards, 12 ultra rare full-art etched Pokémon ex and Supporter cards, and three hyper rare gold etched cards.”- Bulbapedia
Anyone looking to complete their collection from the Paldea Evolved set can hope to pull them from Obsidian. Stand-out cards from this set include the Dark Tera Type Charizard.
This is all the information the community has on Pokémon TCG’s Obsidian Flames expansion. This is one of the most exciting expansions due to the game finally incorporating Terastalization. Hopefully, players will embrace the new strategies these cards have to offer. Get out there and make a blazing impact on the mat.
