Hello, trainers. Pokemon Day is not that far away and the community at large is excited for what is to come. It is especially a big deal when one takes into account the lack of Pokemon content in the most recent Nintendo Direct. And this piece will go into some recently discovered news for one of the most beloved side series in the fandom: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. The main question here is will there be a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon announcement on Pokemon Day? According to a leak, there could be a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon on the way.
On February 15, Centro Leaks posted some exciting info on Twitter. He informs the community that there might be a Mystery Dungeon-related announcement. Supposedly, in the files for the new Pokemon Together website, one could find the copyright text for Spike Chunsoft. Spike Chunsoft are the legends behind all of the Mystery Dungeon games.
While fans should take leaks like these with half a grain of salt, there is no denying that this could pan out to be true. Mystery Dungeon is the most beloved Pokemon side series. So given how successful the Red and Blue Rescue Team remake was, this could be the post-Scarlet and Violet remake the world needs.
If this is the case, what could be the announcement be?
The writers at the Game Haus could only see three distinct possibilities. This piece lists them below:
The Explorers collection of games is quite possibly the most beloved Mystery Dungeon games. They are follow-ups to the Rescue Team games as gen 4 installments. Players spend time as part of the Wigglytuff Guild helping the general poke-public. The adventure culminates in a fight against Darkrai to restore the flow of time to the world.
With the original games having come out in 2008, the most ideal move for the company would be a remake of the Explorers games (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers DX?). Rescue Team DX was a huge success and I could only see a remake of these beloved games being an even bigger success.
We are on Generation Nine of the Pokemon franchise and the company last released a Mystery Dungeon tale in Generation 6. Given that Pokemon now has over 1000 creatures, this would be the perfect time to announce a brand new side game. Fans would love to go through a new adventure that includes legendaries like Solgaleo and Lunala, Zacian and Zamazenta, and Koraidon and Miraidon.
Whether it is a new installment or the last installment, a new game could be just as exciting as a Time/Darkness/Sky remake.
This is the last thing the Pokemon Company can do. The Mystery Dungeon games as is are magnificent games in their own right. And since Gameboy games are coming to Nintendo Online, they could bring the original Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team to the platform. Then when other platforms come to the service, they can continue to add the other entries.
This is the weakest speculation, but could still reap positive long-term investment. Only the future can tell.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is such a unique and beloved property for many reasons. As it has an absence of humans in it, this allows the Pokemon themselves to be the stars. They are the makers of their own stories instead of helping the humans live theirs. While the announcement is not confirmed, it is not unfounded. And if there is a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon announcement, fans should be prepared for a wild ride.
