Trainers, to catch them have truly become the true test. What’s the cost? Well, depends on how many coins you want. Niantic has announced a new method of getting Poké coins for those who need them the most. This piece will go over the Pokémon GO Web Store.
As of May 24, players can purchase Pokécoin bundles online. This excerpt, specifically, is from pokemongolive.com:
“The Pokémon GO Web Store will include limited-time deals, web-exclusive bundles, and other offers only available to Trainers through the web store. Trainers can log into the web store using their Pokémon GO credentials. Once purchased, PokéCoins will show up automatically in your Pokémon GO app!”
In addition, Pokecoin bundles purchased through the web store will include additional Pokécoins with each purchase. For those who don’t mind spending some extra disposable income, it’s a good way to stockpile for future events. However, it is only available in certain regions. While they were not listed on the site, it is assumed that it is at least available in the US.
This is a complicated question to answer. The best one, however, is that it’s better than buying Pokécoins in the game itself. If a player has no problem with microtransactions, the bonus Pokecoins are a good way to make sure someone never goes broke. It also will allow a player to buy a good pile of remote raid passes to help any long-distance friends.
However, if a player is naturally against microtransactions, this announcement no doubt pissed them off. Players could justifiably see this as another way to convince people to fund amoral practices. Not to mention that it doesn’t offer any other merchandise, or motivation for players who aren’t pay-to-win.
It is up to the player whether or not the bonuses are worth it to them.
The Pokémon GO Web Store is an interesting entity, to say the least. It makes buying Pokécoins more appealing and worth it. However, it also furthers a blight on the mobile gaming industry. Players got an in-game currency aid and moral conundrum in one. Whether the good outweighs the bad is up to the individual at the end of the day.
