The Dragon tera typing seems to be more for compensating for the weaknesses of the grass type. This is along with it being a reference to Sceptile’s mega evolution. Nonetheless, Dragon Dance is a huge help to Sceptile’s speed and physical attack. Players might want to consider bringing a taunt user.
Speaking of counters though, let’s get into them.
Skeledirge
An Unaware Skeledirge is one of the best possible counters for this raid. Bringing a Fairy Type one will help it get stab damage on counter moves with Alluring Voice. Players should make sure they have a modest Skeledirge and Shell Bell as the item so they can restore HP as they attack. Make sure all EVs are spent in Special Attack, Health, and Defense.
Skeledirge’s moveset should be Slack Off for healing, Torch Song for a stab attack and special attack buffs, Alluring Voice for a secondary tera stab move, and Protect to scout out Sceptile’s attacks. With patience, this strategy will work for most players.
Clefable
This is the second most popular strategy that players have chosen. Clefable has the same ability and item that Skeledirge has, leaving it immune to Dragon Dance and just as workable as Skeledirge. They can even have the same EV spread. Clefable’s moveset is the following:
Moonblast
Fake Tears
Reflect
Calm Mind
Moonblast is an obvious attack for Clefable as it will have the modest nature. Sceptile’s Dragon Dance also leaves its special defenses weakened, so it’s the perfect exploit. Fake Tears will also make the Moonblast more effective by lowering the enemy’s special defense before striking.
Reflect will help protect the entire party from Leaf Blade and Calm Mind will buff both special attack and special defense. Remember, this is a co-op set, so keep this moveset when working with fellow players. Readers can find other strategies on Game8.
