During the most recent Nintendo Direct, gamers saw new gameplay regarding Pikmin 4. Along with it the Pikmin 4 release date.
The Pikmin 4 trailer showcased the Pikmin 4 release date set for July 21, 2023. The trailer showcased a new playable character and a canine companion named Oatchi, who will help overcome big challenges. There have also been sightings of a brand new Ice Pikmin. Mechanics such as pulling walls apart and traveling across the water was shown off direct the Nintendo Direct as well.
Pikmin 4’s first announcement can be dated back to 2015. Back in 2015, Shigeru Miyamoto announced to gamers that Pikman 4’s progress was “very close to completion”. In 2016 nothing of substance was given related to the title., In 2017 progress was being made on the game’s development but then communication went dark. For 5 whole years, gamers would be left in the dark about the game’s development process leaving them speculating about the title’s cancellation.
Following Pikmin 3’s launch in 2013 in 2017 instead of being greeted with Pikman 4 gamers were introduced to Hey! Pikmin. While not Pikmin 4, Hey! Pikman was a standalone sequel to Pikmin 3 and is the series’ first installment on a handheld console. That console was the Nintendo 3DS.
4 years later in 2021, another installment in the franchise was released. Again this wasn’t Pikmin 4 but another unique take on the franchise. Pikmin Bloom was a mobile game where gamers could grow their own Pikmin, and make flowers bloom, all by simply walking.
