Persona 3 Reload – “Episode Aigis: The Answer” announced

Publish Date: March 8, 2024

After a well-received launch of Persona 3 Reload and players enjoying and some even still finishing the story, ATLUS announced the upcoming release of “Episode Aigis: The Answer”

Longtime Persona 3 fans may remember the DLC as the original bonus chapter released with Persona 3 FES, the original re-release of Persona 3. The release was announced during an Xbox showcase.

The expansion of the DLC in Persona 3 will be released in three waves. On March 12, the game will receive legacy background music sets from Persona 5 Royal and Persona 4 Golden. Additionally, the student outfits from Persona 4 Golden can be equipped, as well as the student and Phantom Thieves outfits from Persona 5 Royal. The personas from the protagonists of Persona 4 and 5 can be purchased and used.

Wave two will contain new Velvet Room outfits for the protagonist and party and new background music. Lastly, wave three will contain Episode Aigis, releasing in September.

For Xbox Gamepass users, the DLC will be available for free through Jan. 31, 2025. Otherwise, players can purchase the aforementioned DLC for $34.99 total or $28.93 (On Steam, not including Episode Aigis).

What is Episode Aigis?

For those unfamiliar with Persona 3 FES, “The Answer” is an epilogue to the main story. It contains about 30 hours of story and combat-filled content, however, does not provide much in terms of overworld and social links. The DLC is regarded as a more difficult challenge for players who enjoy harder combat situations.

It is uncertain what ATLUS will include in terms of combat, background music, voice actors, and so on. However, players need to wrap up the main story before jumping into Episode Aigis, as it will contain spoilers for the mainline story.

What about the female protagonist?

Persona 3 has ironically had three re-releases, Persona 3 Reload, Persona 3: FES, and Persona 3 Portable. However, Portable has one thing no other persona game has since Persona 2, a female avatar.

Portable included a sightly different overworld with a majority of the UI coloring being pink instead of blue, new romance options, and background music.

At the moment, it seems no concrete evidence or trail is pointing to a “definitive” version of Persona 3, combining “The Answer” with Portable. This can be infuriating for Portable fans, especially since they are reviving “The Answer” and the re-release of Portable on modern platforms flopped, to say the least.

Of course, fans were beyond excited with the modern release of Persona 3, but why not just make a “definitive” version of Persona 3, combining the music and female avatar, “The Answer,” to make a complete version? Fans would not have to play or purchase multiple times to truly experience every aspect of Persona 3.
