Everyone believed that the Super Smash Bros series ended with Super Smash Bros Ultimate, also known as Smash 5. However, rumor has it that a Smash 6 release date could be closer than we think. While it is based on speculation, here’s everything you need to know about the alleged Smash 6 release window.
It all began in 1999, with Super Smash Bros. In 2001, we were given Melee, and in 2008, we had the infamous “Audi Famam Illius” introduction for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The series came back yet again in 2014 on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS systems, and every gamer was ready to say farewell with Super Smash Bros Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch 1. 8 years later, and we now have a discussion of yet one more potential Smash title.
Game Developer Interviewer Reece Reilly, better known as their online alias “Kiwi Talkz,” took to X, bringing exciting news. Online Kiwi Talkz claims that Rockstar Games, along with Nintendo, has big projects on the way within the next year or two. The IPs mentioned were the Grand Theft Auto Series, including GTA VI, another Metroid game, The Legend of Zelda, and, of course, Super Smash Bros.
“GTA 6 in November, another Metroid game on the near horizon, Smash Bros in the next year or two, and another Zelda game & the movie in 2027” – Kiwi Talkz
While the information comes from a rather reputable source, Nintendo has given no confirmation that any of its titles are coming soon or have a set release date. Of the four IPs mentioned by Kiwi Talkz, GTA VI is the only one with a set release date of November 19 this year.
There’s no telling what Super Smash Bros. 6 could potentially look like, but we do know that Smash Bros Ultimate set the bar high. Smash Bros 6 could be a port, remake, or even a completely different game. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see for any additional news over the next few months. Until then, as Kiwi Talkz put it, “Don’t jump the gun and get ahead of yourselves.”
