Ermac, the iconic fighter in the Mortal Kombat franchise, makes his return to Mortal Kombat 1.
Ermac made his first appearance in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, an arcade fighting game released in 1996. Since then, Ermac has made various appearances throughout the franchise’s history.
In Mortal Kombat 1, Ermac was introduced in the story, however was not playable like some of the other characters. But because Mortal Kombat released the DLC roster, fans knew Ermac would make his return.
Ermac is playable for people who have early access on April 16, but the full release, including the new kameo, Mavado, will be released on April 23.
Fans can catch Ermac’s gameplay trailer on Mortal Kombat’s official YouTube channel.
Ermac looks explosive, wielding his power over souls to combo, juggle, hold, and launch his opponents. And of course, Ermac’s fatality, which is a rather gruesome display of how Ermac can dismantle and dismember his opponents. And Mavado had his fatality displayed also.
Professional players such as Dominque “SonicFox” McLean, have already jumped inside the lab to test and theorize Ermac’s move set. Even claiming that they will main Ermac because he is strong.
Ed Boon, the creative director of Mortal Kombat also took to X to react to SonicFox’s message about maining Ermac. Perhaps realizing the amount of terror and skill SonicFox could display with Ermac. After all, SonicFox is one of the greatest fighting game players on the planet.
Only time will tell if Ermac will receive nerfs, buffs, or stay the same. Perhaps pro and casual play will influence a decision from Netherrealm Studios.
