Marvel Rivals Tier List
Like all games that have a large roster of diverse characters to chose from, some choices will simply be better than others, whether it is due to their stats, the tools they have at their disposal, or even just their overall gameplay pattern. For the people who want to climb the ranks early on, or just want to make sure that they are not choosing a weak option, we have created a Day 1 Tier List for the upcoming hero-shooter game, Marvel Rivals.
This tier list consists of 5 different tiers, with S-tier being the best and most consistent meta choices, and D tier being the weakest choices in the game. Find out who is the strongest, and who might be on the weaker side.
You can see the full tier list here and can see the reasonings below.
S-Tier
S-Tier characters are the best of the best. Chose any of these if you want to go with the strongest, or most meta option.
Venom – An incredibly durable frontline, Venom not only is hard to kill with his sustain abilities, but also deals heavy damage making him a pretty lethal juggernaut.
Magneto – Although Magneto might be difficult to use, it is certainly worth the effort to learn him. Magneto has lots of tools, ranging from crowd control and defensive options, to high damage as well. Magneto not only assists his team, but can burst down enemies as well.
Luna Snow – Luna Snow has everything you would want in a support character, fast heals, mobility, and even decent offensive capabilities. Luna Snow benefits from AOE on most of her healing abilities as well, and even a damage boost making her one of the best supporting heroes.
Adam Warlock – For the Overwatch fans who reminisce on the original kit of Mercy, Adam Warlock is for you. On top of his healing abilities and decent offensive tools, Adam Warlock is capable of reviving not only himself, but his entire team as well.
Spider-Man – Spider-Man has everything that a melee DPS character would want, high damage, combos, and insane mobility to keep him alive despite his low defenses. Spider-Man is extremely good at going in, destroying a target, and getting out, which makes him one of the best DPS heroes in the game.
The Punisher – For DPS players who prefer to play at a range, The Punisher is the best choice with his expansive arsenal of fire power. The Punisher has high damage and can choose between sustained DPS and high burst, making him a solid staple in the meta.
Iron Fist – Iron Fist has all of the tools that a melee DPS would want, high mobility, the ability to stick onto his targets, and good damage. This combed with his large AOE abilities puts him in S tier.
Squirrel Girl – High damage, AOE, and crowd control, Squirrel Girl has all of the tools she needs to take down both groups of enemies and single targets landing her in S-Tier.
Winter Soldier – A standard DPS who uses both ranged and melee, Winter Soldier is S-Tier thanks to his ultimate ability which can mark an entire team to take execution damage, effectively lowering their max HP.
A-Tier
Hela – Hela is an insane damage dealer, who benefits greatly from precise strikes and critical hits. Hela can cut down even the most durable of heroes, however, although she has repositioning tools, she is quite weak in close range making her A-tier.
Doctor Strange – Doctor Strange is a great addition to any team, offering lots of tools to help is team come out on top. Not only can he utilize defensive options, such as a shield, to help his team push, he also can create portals to help his slower allies reach the battle a bit quicker.
Iron Man – High ranged, aerial, with most of his damage being DPS, Iron Man is a staple of A tier being able to dish out damage from above. His strength is also his weakness, being aerial means his weakness is hitscan characters who can easily take him out from below.
Rocket Raccoon – A support who focuses less on healing and more on buffing allies in other ways, Rocket Raccoon can provide armor and damage boosts for his team, and can even bring a single person back to life to continue fighting.
Groot – A tank with a unique playstyle focused on barriers, Groot can turn the tide of any fight with a well placed wall. His unique playstyle means that he might be a bit tricky to pick up, however, a good Groot will certainly make any fight a pain for the enemies.
Magik – One of the many melee DPS in Marvel Rivals, Magik can teleport in and dish out good damage. Magik also has better survivability than other melee DPS, making her a good choice for A-tier
Black Widow – the designated sniper of Marvel Rivals, Black Widow is quite powerful if you can hit all of your shots, especially headshots, but for somebody with not the best aim, Black Widow could be considered weak.
Hawkeye – Similar to Black Widow, another high skill choice who benefits greatly from precisely nailing all of his shots (or arrows.)
Captain America – The Cap himself resides in A tier as a utility-based tank who likes to dive in on enemies, while also empowering his allies. Captain America can deflect projectiles as well, putting him in A-tier.
Wolverine – Wolverine has high damage, sustain, and even a berserker form, however his ability to be easily kited puts him in A-Tier.
B-Tier
Star-Lord– An Agile high damage DPS hero, Star-Lord has an aggressive playstyle of dashing around and bursting squishy enemies. His weakness of being somewhat teammate reliant, as you are an easy target, puts him in B-tier.
Loki – The God of Trickery is certainly tricky, with his ability to create copies of himself as decoys. Loki is a support who can move around quickly, disrupt, and heal enemies, and even is capable of assassinating enemies with a backstab if played right. Him behind a hybrid of an assassin and a support puts him in B-tier, as he is a jack-of-all-trades but a master of none.
Storm – Another support-damage hybrid, Storm can choose to play offensively or defensively depending on her form. When played at the highest level, Storm is extremely powerful, however she benefits from cooperation that might be hard to find with random teammates.
Mantis – Mantis is a healer with the largest focus on healing out of the entire class. She is very good at what she does, healing allies, however her lack of other supportive options puts her on B-tier.
Thor – Thor is a very solid hero, he can get himself in and out of fights while being tanky enough to keep himself in elongated fights as well.
Scarlet Witch – Scarlet Witch is a hero who benefits the most from her ability to be annoying. Her low damage basic attack paired with a gameplay pattern that falls off against more skilled players puts her at B-tier.
Moon Knight – Moon Knight is a DPS hero who can utilize both melee and ranged to deal high damage. Moon Knight does have a few mobility tools, such as a grappling hook and the ability to glide, however he is slower compared to other melee DPS putting him in B-Tier.
C-Tier
Black Panther – a melee DPS similar to Spider-Man, Black Panther benefits from close-ranged combo based fighting. However, failing to execute leaves you very vulnerable, and even executing perfectly you are still lacking damage compared to someone like Spider-Man.
Bruce Banner / Hulk – another jack-of-all-trades, Hulk switches between multiple forms which gives him multiple different approaches to every fight. However, the downside to this is all of his forms are a bit weaker compared to other heroes.
Jeff The Land Shark – Jeff is a support strategist with high mobility and heals, however, his power lies mainly in his ultimate ability which allows him to swallow enemies and allies. Without that, he is quite weak compared to other choices.
Cloak and Dagger – a strategist who can switch between two different forms, Cloak and Dagger shares the same weakness as Hulk and Loki, having two separate weaker forms instead of one strong form.
Psylocke – A standard DPS who uses range until she decides to pull out her sword and go in for the kill with melee, her damage just doesn’t really compare to other heroes putting her in C-tier.
D-Tier
Namor – A hero with weak basic attacks and a focus on setting up turrets, Namor is D-Tier because he is not really that big of a threat himself unless paired up with Luna Snow for a devastating team-up ability.
Peni Parker – Peni Parker relies entirely on trap-based abilities, which serves as her biggest strength and weakness. If people fall into her traps, she is quite strong, however they can be avoided and you know that when you are playing against Peni there will be traps set up.
