Questionable Madden 21 Ratings: New York Jets

Publish Date: August 2, 2020

EA Sports’ Madden franchise has the daunting task of ranking all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with the initial rankings of players. So, The Game Haus will be analyzing the most questionable ratings for players on every NFL team.

Here are the most questionable Madden 21 ratings for the New York Jets.

Brian Winters – 79

Brian Winters

Brian Winters will be competing with Alex Lewis and Greg Van Rotten for a starting spot along the Jets offensive line.

If you’ve followed the New York Jets for the past couple of seasons you are aware that the team has struggled to find long term starters along their offensive line. The way they played last season, Jets fans wished they still had Nick Mangold and D’Brickashaw Ferguson lining up at center and left tackle. According to Madden 21 the Jets’ best offensive lineman is Brian Winters.

Winters was drafted in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He has been a starter a long the Jets offensive line for a majority of his career. Winters has never been great, but he has been solid for New York. There was a time that Winters was considered the best offensive lineman on the team, but after the past few seasons it is fair to say that he might not hold that title anymore.

Winters is rated above highly regarded offensive lineman Andrus Peat of the New Orleans Saints and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif of the Kansas City Chiefs. Peat is a 78 overall and was voted to his first Pro Bowl last season. Duvernay-Tardif was a huge reason why the Chiefs offense is as good as it is. He could possibly sneak into a Pro Bowl in 2021-22 if he returns to playing after opting out of next season. Winters however is average at best.

It doesn’t seem fair to pick on the Jets offensive line considering it is arguably the worst unit in the league. But Winters is not better than some of the best young offensive lineman in the league.

Adjusted Rating – 74

Quincy Enunwa – 77

There was a time where Quincy Enunwa looked like the future of the New York Jets offense. In 2016 Enunwa had 857 yards receiving and four touchdowns. However after a terrible neck injury, Enunwa has been limited and has not seen a lot of action on the field.

Enunwa was a sixth round pick by the Jets back in 2014. For his first few seasons Enunwa was seen as a blocking receiver. Due to lack of depth at the position Enunwa quickly rises up the depth chart to become a starting receiver. But his neck injury has limited Enunwa to 12 games in three years. He is also expected to miss the entire 2020 season because of this injury.

Though he has missed a lot of time, Enunwa is rated higher than promising wide receivers Anthony Miller of the Chicago Bears, Auden Tate of the Cincinnati Bengals, Dionte Johnson of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kendrick Bourne of the San Fransisco 49ers, and Mecole Hardman of the Kansas City Chiefs.

With retirement seemingly on the horizon for Enunwa it might be time to lower his Madden rating due to the  lack of playing time he has had over the past few seasons.

Adjusted Rating – 75

Jordan Jenkins – 74

One of the biggest weaknesses of the New York Jets after the past couple of seasons has been their pass rush, especially form the outside. However Jordan Jenkins has emerged as the teams leading rusher. Last season Jenkins led the team in sacks with eight.

Jenkins was drafted in the third round by the Jets in the 2016 NFL Draft. Coming out of college Jenkins was seen as a complimentary pass rusher much like how he was at Georgia. However since joining the NFL Jenkins has asserted himself as the Jets leading pass rusher and even outplayed former Georgia teammate Leonard Floyd who was taken in the first round. But Floyd has a higher Madden rating than Jenkins.

Jenkins is rated below Arizona Cardinals linebacker Hasaan Reddick and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Tyus Bowser who aren’t even starters on their team. Reddick is considered a major bust by the Cardinals and Bowser has 8.5 career sacks.

Jenkins may not become one of the leagues elite pass rushers, but he is still a valuable starter and one of the best players on the New York Jets. His Madden rating should reflect that.

Adjusted Rating – 77
