The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 20 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the questionable Madden 20 ratings: Atlanta Falcons.
Deion Jones- 90
Jones only played in six games, but still totaled 53 tackles. In 2017, when fully healthy, he was all over the field with 138 tackles. That season he cemented his status as one of the best linebackers in the game and probably should be ranked a little higher.
Bobby Wagner is ranked at 99 and Luke Keuchly is a 98 to lead all middle linebackers. Jones and Lavonte David are both ranked at 90 as the next middle linebackers. Regardless of which one is better, they both should be boosted a few points given their history of good play on the field.
Adjusted Rating- 93
Devonta Freeman- 89
Freeman was injured last year and had just 68 rushing yards over two games. In 2017, when he played 14 games, he rushed for 865 yards and had 317 receiving yards. He still deserves a decently-high rating, but 89 might be a little too much.
Currently, Freeman is rated ahead of Joe Mixon, who led the AFC in rushing yards and David Johnson, who had a better season last year than Freeman did in 2017. Freeman should be docked a few points to start out the season and then can be adjusted if he plays well.
Adjusted Rating- 87
Damontae Kazee- 79
Kazee burst onto the scene last season with 82 tackles, seven interceptions and 10 passes defended. For some reason, Madden didn’t recognize Kazee’s good play like they should have. A 79 rating is a few points too low for a player who made so many plays last season and tied for the league lead in interceptions.
Justin Reid of the Houston Texans had a good rookie season and was rated as an 84 for Madden 20. He had a few more tackles than Kazee and the same number of passes defended, but had four fewer interceptions. Kazee should at least be rated as high as Reid given that information.
Adjusted Rating- 84
Calvin Ridley- 78
The Falcons got a solid rookie season out of Calvin Ridley, as he finished the season with 64 catches for 821 yards and 10 touchdowns. Defenses had a hard time covering all of Atlanta’s receivers last year and Ridley provided Mayy Ryan with a good target. Unfortunately, he was only given a rating of 78 for his efforts.
The interesting thing about Ridley’s Madden rating is actually comparing it to his teammate Mohamed Sanu. Sanu had 66 catches for 838 yards and four touchdowns. He is rated 82 overall, so Ridley should be rated the same if not better.
Adjusted Rating- 82
