Questionable Madden 19 ratings: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 19 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. This article will look into the head-scratching Madden 19 ratings for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

JuJu Smith-Schuster – 80

Antonio Brown checks in with a 99, then after him is a steep drop off to Smith-Schuster at 80. This seems really low for a receiver who had 58 receptions for 917 yards and seven touchdowns in his rookie season. Pierre Garcon is rated 86 and he only had 500 receiving yards and not one touchdown last season.

Even stranger still JuJu’s speed rating is only 89, which is two points slower than Artie Burns and three points slower than AB. That just seems a little low for someone who outran a whole Lions defense for a 97-yard touchdown. Especially since Lions’ corner Darius Slay “allegedly” has 94 speed, which is five more than JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Huh, 89 speed.

Alejandro Villaneuva – 78

The Steelers have had one of the top five offensive lines in the NFL for three years in a row now. Alejandro Villaneuva has been on the offensive line during that time span. He has helped to anchor it and has been recognized as a significant part of the line by pro football focus and others. He has been a leader during some dominant stretches throughout his career. Somehow, he is only rated a 78 overall when he should be at least an 80.

A surprising part of his rating is that his strength is only 86 yet he is 6-foot-9 and weighs in at 320 making him one of the largest players in all of the NFL. You would think this would be reflected in his strength rating, but it is not because he has the lowest rating of all the starters on the offensive line.
