Madden 22: Most Overrated Green Bay Packers

Publish Date: August 10, 2021

The Madden 22 ratings have finally been unveiled. As always, there are some questionable ratings for players on every single team. In this series, TGH writers will give their opinions on the most overrated and underrated players on each roster.

Here are the players on the Green Bay Packers that have been the most overrated by Madden 22.

Kenny Clark

In 2020, Kenny Clark had his worst year since his rookie campaign. He totaled only 38 total tackles (24 solo), two sacks and one forced fumbles. To be fair, he played in only 13 games, but those numbers combined with three missed games are not very promising signs considering he inked a four-year, $70 million deal before the 2020 season began.

Clark did drop six points from his previous rating, given his 2018 and 2019 seasons were much more productive (50 and 60 total tackles respectively and six sacks in each season). But being given a rating of almost 90 and being the fifth-ranked defensive tackle for just eating up space during the 2020 season seems too generous.

Devin Funchess

Funchess is a far cry from his best self that shone bright as a Panther in 2017. In that season he racked up 840 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Since then, he played 14 games in 2018, then just one game in with the Colts in 2019, before breaking his collarbone and missing the rest of the season.

He signed with Green Bay before the 2020 season began, but opted out of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That makes a total of 33 missed games since the 2018 season began. In short, neither Madden ratings experts or NFL fans know who Devin Funchess is on the field anymore. He is injury prone and has not played a game since Week 1 of 2019.

A rating of 78 may seem fair and Rodgers may well make him look like a Pro Bowl receiver by the end of the season, but if you look at his history, it is still an overrating.

Adrian Amos

Amos rose three points from an 86 in Madden 21 to an 89 in Madden 22. That is a bit strange considering his 2020 numbers were near identical to his previous season. He had only one more tackle and one more sack in 2020 than in 2019. He had the same number of interceptions (two) in both seasons. Amos also recovered a fumble in 2020 (but did not force any) and returned the interceptions for a few more yards, but the numbers are not eye-popping.

Really, barring from some real eagle-eye film study regarding his coverage skills, there really is not much to justify the rise in the Madden 22 ratings. He is still good, and a well above average safety that anchors the Packers’ back end, but he should have stayed right where he was.
