Madden 21 Questionable Ratings: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Publish Date: August 2, 2020

EA Sports’ Madden franchise has the daunting task of ranking all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with the initial rankings of players. So, The Game Haus will be analyzing the most questionable ratings for players on every NFL team.

Here are the most questionable Madden 21 ratings for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ronald Jones II – 79

Jones was lost last year in one of the NFL’s most pass-happy offenses. Yet, he still managed to make his mark on the team by flexing a variety of abilities.

Despite Jameis Winston throwing the ball all over the field, Jones still rushed for 724 yards and six touchdowns behind a decent, but not great, offensive line. He also caught 31 passes for 309 yards, putting his season total above 1,000.

Now with a retooled line and an offense that will make opposing defenses play with five to six defensive backs on every single snap, Jones is going to get more work to catch teams off guard. His rating of 79 makes a little sense, but his potential this year may make that feel dated extremely fast. Madden 21 should bump him up a bit, just to be on the right side of history, if nothing else.

Adjusted Rating – 82

Chris Godwin – 88

When talking about ratings in the high-80s or low-90s, it may seem like splitting hairs when saying that those players are slightly over or under rated. It is just the opposite, however. When it comes to high ranking players, every single point counts.

Chris Godwin is one of the very first pair of teammates to both have over 1,000 yards receiving in a season, along with Mike Evans. Evans is rated a 92 by Madden 21.

Godwin, though, had three more targets, 19 more receptions, 176 more yards and one more touchdown than Evans did. This is not at all an argument to move Evans down, but rather to pay the respect to Godwin that he deserves by giving them the same ratings.

Sure, Godwin is younger while Evans is a bonafide veteran. But still, when the numbers say what they say, these two deserve to be in the exact same class.

Adjusted Rating – 92

Shaquil Barrett – 85

Shaq Barrett’s numbers were absolutely insane last season. He was the lynch pin of the NFL’s best run defense, along with Lavonte David.

His first year in Tampa saw him lead the league in sacks, with 19.5. He also turned the ball over at a huge clip for a linebacker, forcing six fumbles and intercepting one pass. Although his tackles only topped out at 58, that was still a career high for the sixth-year player.

It seems odd that after a year like that, Barrett is trapped in the mid-80s. The numbers he put up were legitimately game-breaking, and his Madden 21 rating should reflect that.

Adjusted Rating – 91
