The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 20 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the Madden 20 questionable ratings: Arizona Cardinals.
Larry Fitzgerald– 83
Larry Fitzgerald is a legend and the league is excited to have him back for another season. Last season he had 75 receptions for 804 yards and four touchdowns. It was a good season for a player of any age, but Fitzgerald is rated a point or two too high in Madden 21.
Looking at players surrounding Fitzgerald in the ratings, helps make the case that his rating should be decreased. He is rated the same as Tyler Boyd and one point higher than John Brown. Both of those players had over 1,000 yards and had more touchdowns than Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald should have a 99 catch rating to reflect the fact that he has more career tackles than drops, but his overall should be lowered a tad.
Adjusted Rating- 80
Byron Murphy- 79
Murphy is a promising young corner, but he had a rough 2019 season. Pro Football Focus had Murphy rated as the 107th corner in the league. His one interception and 10 passes defended do give fans hope that Murphy will improve, but he isn’t quite there.
Despite ranking so low on PFF, Murphy is ranked 79 overall, which is tied for the 40th best cornerback in the game. That is just a little too high. He should be lowered a few points, although with a good season, he could force the ratings adjusters to move him up again.
Adjusted Rating- 77
Kyler Murray– 77
Kyler Murray had a very impressive rookie season for the Cardinals. He passed for 3,722 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 64.4 percent completion. Murray was able to add 544 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Unfortunately, Madden didn’t see things similarly, as they ranked Murray 77, which was tied for 20th for the quarterback position.
His rankings in certain stats help prove that he should be rated higher. He ranked 15th in completion percentage, 15th in passing yards, 21st in touchdowns. Adding in his rushing ability that not all quarterbacks have and Murray should easily see a ratings boost.
Adjusted Rating-79
Marcus Gilbert– 75
Gilbert was a solid right tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers since entering the NFL in 2011. Since joining the Cardinals last year, Gilbert hasn’t played a snap as he was placed on the IR with a knee injury. He has played just five games over the last two seasons, which is likely the reason that Madden rated him at a 75.
While his injury rating should be lowered, Gilbert should be ranked a little higher than tied for 17th among right tackles. Gilbert will have a chance to show Madden ratings adjusters early that just because he has been injured, it doesn’t mean that he deserves the ratings drop.
Adjusted Rating- 77
