The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 20 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the Madden 20 questionable ratings: New Orleans Saints.
Drew Brees- 92
Brees is aging, but he still had one of the most efficient seasons in NFL history last year. He led the league in completion percentage at 74.4 percent and also only threw five interceptions. His volume of 3,992 and 32 touchdowns wasn’t among the best in the league, but he provided great play to keep the offense balanced in 2018. Madden gave Brees a rating of 92, which tied him for the fifth-best quarterback in the game.
Philip Rivers is rated at a 94 after putting up a season of 4,308 yards, 32 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 68.3 percent completion. While he has more yards, the rest of the stats are worse, meaning that Brees should be rated higher.
Adjusted Rating- 95
Cam Jordan- 91
Jordan is one of the best all-around defensive ends in football. Madden did realize this by giving him a 91 rating, but not everything adds up. He had 12 sacks and 18 tackles for loss in 2018, which was one of many good seasons for the veteran.
Calais Campbell of the Jaguars had just 10.5 sacks and 20 tackles for loss, which is obviously similar production. Campbell though had fewer sacks, while still providing good run support. Jordan can support the run and get a few more sacks, meaning he should be rated the same, or higher than Campbell.
Adjusted Rating- 93
Marshon Lattimore- 87
Through two years in the NFL, Lattimore has become one of the best young corners in the game. While he made fewer plays on the ball in 2018 than in 2017, Lattimore still played well last season. He was given an 87 overall rating by Madden this season.
Desmond Trufant of the Atlanta Falcons had 12 passes defended and no interceptions in 2018. That is the same number as passes defended, but two fewer interceptions, yet he was rated at an 88 by Madden. Lattimore deserves to be rated higher than Trufant.
Adjusted Rating- 89
Jared Cook- 87
While he isn’t the biggest household name, Cook has been one of the better tight ends in the game over the last few seasons. He had 68 catches for 896 yards and six touchdowns for the Raiders last year and figures to do even more with the Saints this season. He was given an 87 rating by Madden.
Jordan Reed, Tyler Eifert and Greg Olsen are all rated higher than Cook, despite being injured and lacking production. Cook should be rated as high, or higher, than all of the tight ends listed because of his ability displayed over the last few seasons.
Adjusted Rating- 89
