This is mainly because Destiny 2 is already on Game Pass for free. The expansion is sadly not free but generally goes on a massive sale around the time the next expansion is coming out. The price without the seasonal pass will be $49.99. So essentially what it costs to buy a new game every year if you are getting the new expansion each year.

Destiny 2’s latest expansion comes about a year and a half after Lightfall which was released at the end of February 2023. Lightfall was not very well-received and it will be interesting to see if The Final Shape can “shape things up”. Yes, that pun was intended.

Regardless, it seems like they took a bit more time on making sure this expansion had time to marinade. The hope will be that the extra time fixed the issues many players had with Lightfall.

The gameplay for Destiny 2 The Final Shape will be same as in the base game. There will be additions though.

Players will get to explore The Pale Heart, a new landscape that apparently will have something to do with our past. What that means is not yet known but you will figure it out once you start playing the game.

Along with this, they are adding new super abilities for each of the classes. They will be, Twilight Arsenal for the Titan class. Storm’s Edge for the Hunter Class. Then Song of flame for the Warlock class. Each are to be gained once you play the expansion.

Lastly, there will be an all-new raid and some new dungeons as well. It is a lot of content for this next expansion.
