Assassin’s Creed Shadows is bringing the long-running series to Feudal Japan, a setting fans have wanted for years. With two playable characters, an evolving stealth system, and a fresh take on the open world, Shadows is looking to shake things up while staying true to the Assassin’s Creed formula. Here’s a look at Assassin’s Creed Shadows and if it’s Multiplayer.
It looks like Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not be Multiplayer.
This is not a major surprise as it is not something the Assassin’s Creed franchise has done in quite some time.
The Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date will be on March 20, 2025.
The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. There will be multiple editions, including a Deluxe Edition and a Collector’s Edition that will feature extra in-game content and collectibles. Ubisoft+ subscribers can also get early access, similar to past Assassin’s Creed games.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will likely not be on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
Ubisoft has traditionally kept its major titles off the service, instead offering them through Ubisoft+. While it’s always possible it could be added to Game Pass later, there are no signs of that happening anytime soon.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will have two playable protagonists. Yasuke is a powerful samurai who focuses on direct combat, while Naoe is a stealthy shinobi who uses agility and deception. Players will be able to switch between them, offering two different playstyles throughout the game.
The game will also feature a dynamic weather system and a time-of-day mechanic that affects stealth and enemy behavior. Shadows will be a fully open-world experience, including bustling towns, rural landscapes, and heavily guarded fortresses. With a revamped parkour and stealth system to fit the setting, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is shaping up to be one of the most exciting entries in the series.
With its new setting, dual protagonists, and deep RPG mechanics, it will be interesting to see if Assassin’s Creed Shadows can live up to the hype.
