A new community-made Pokemon Showdown roguelike has been made and is currently free to play online for Pokemon fans around the globe who want an all-new roguelike experience. So, here are all of the details on how to play it yourself, how it works, and everything else you need to know. However, keep in mind that this project is still considered to be in very early access, so expect various issues or downtimes.
To play the Pokemon Showdown roguelike (made by user HiZo and posted on Smogon), you will need to go to this URL which is a part of the main Pokemon Showdown site. From there, you will need to make sure you have an account for Pokemon Showdown. These are free to make and can be done in the top right of the screen.
After that, you are all set! Simply start a new run, and begin playing your first playthrough of this roguelike.
Like any other roguelike, the objective is to string together the most consecutive wins with your team, level them up, and continue out-scaling the AI opponents. To do so, make sure you have a well-rounded team of different typings and spend your earned BP wisely. Whether you decide to heal your current team, buy items, or acquire new Pokemon will inevitably be up to you and the instance your are facing on the run. But, in general, you just want to ensure you are not losing Pokemon!
