Role-playing games are expected to gain popularity as the genre appeals to players of different age groups. Players appreciate the extensive stories and the opportunity to influence the plot through their own decisions.
Since 2024, shooter games have become increasingly popular. Further statistics from Logrus Games show that shooter games accounted for 16-17% of console and PC sales in 2024, representing a 9.6% increase over the previous year. Classics such as Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, and Fortnite continue to attract millions and show no signs of slowing down. The next Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, is scheduled for release in November 2025, and there are already plans to continue the series in 2026 and 2027.
Adventure games follow in second place with 13-15% player participation on consoles and PCs, which corresponds to a strong growth of 21.2%. As one of the most successful open-world games, Grand Theft Auto VI won the “Most Anticipated Game” award and is scheduled for release in May 2026.
