Will Project L Be Free to Play?

Both fighting game fans and Riot Games enthusiasts received some great news earlier this week. On Monday August 1, Project L’s executive producer Tom Cannon made an announcement highlighting one of the biggest questions about Riot’s latest game. Cannon revealed in a short video that Project L will be free to play. The untitled fight game will focus on overall availability for players everywhere, starting with a zero-dollar price tag.

Cannon noted that the Project L team wants to remove as many barriers as possible to allow people to play. The decision to go free-to-play is one that several games are pivoting to in order to get as many players into the game as possible. Project L joins it’s siblings League of Legends and VALORANT as free games to play.

Cannon also mentions briefly their plans for monetization. While he doesn’t note what players are exactly buying inside the game, he mentions that the Project L team is very conscious about what makes sense to add as in-game purchases.

Project L is a 2D fighting game from Riot Games that was announced during Riot’s 10 Year Anniversary event. After years of development, the team released an update at the end of 2021.  In the announcement the Project L team revealed the game will be a assist-based fighting game with teams of two champions.

So far, the Project L cast of characters consists of Darius, Jinx, Ahri, Ekko and Illaoi. With a massive cast of champions in League, there is no doubt that this list will continue to grow. Free sweeps cash casinos.
