Skullgirls: 2nd Encore Evo 2022 Results: SonicFox Wins

Dominique “SonicFox” McClean claims their victory as Skullgirls: 2nd Encore champion at Evo 2022. Through a total of 295 competitors, SonicFox emerges victorious.

Their victory at Evo 2022 will mark their spot as Evo champion for the sixth time. SonicFox competes in a large pool of games. Ranging from Injustice, Skullgirls, Dragon Ball FightreZ, Guilty Gear, and Mortal Kombat. Primarily performing best in Netherrealm titles, the developers of Mortal Kombat and Injustice.



They’ve previously won past Evo tournaments in 2014 for Injustice: Gods Among Us, 2015, 2016 for Mortal Kombat X, 2018 for Dragon Ball FighterZ, and 2019 for Mortal Kombat 11.

SonicFox has such an impression in Skullgirls that the developers have even put their fursona in the game.

SonicFox Vs. dekillsage



The victory comes after defeating Jon “dekillsage” Coello, a fellow Evil Geniuses player. The Grand Finals was a best of five, while most matches are best of three.

The battle was hard fought for dekillsage who was coming from the losers bracket after defeating Japanese player “penpen” in Losers Finals. During the Grand Finals, dekillsage was able to reset the bracket after a 0-3 sweep in their favor.

However, SonicFox was able to nearly defeat after the reset, using their final characters, but dekillsage was able to clutch out the match. After achieving another win, during the last match, SonicFox was able to dominate dekillsage and secure their victory as Evo Champion.

SonicFox achieves their victory using a team consisting of Ms. Fortune, Annie, and Robo-Fortune. While their opponent dekillsage was using Fillia, Big Band, and Annie.

SonicFox is known to enter several tournaments at once and was no different at Evo 2022. Other games where they were a registrant were Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate Guilty Gear -Strive-, Tekken 7, Melty Blood: Type Lumina, and Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Their main focus was on Skullgirls where they were able to secure a victory. However, they were able to make high placements in Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate, and Guilty Gear -Strive-.

SonicFox was able to celebrate their victory with fellow players “Razzo“, Mathew “TempestNYC” Tulloch, Julian “Hotashi” Harriss, and Guilty Gear -Strive- Evo Champion “UMISHO” after the Guilty Gear -Strive- Grand Finals.
