Details about Marie

The teaser trailer was released at Evo 2022, where Skullgirls was one of the main tournaments. The teaser reveals that the last character of the game’s first season pass will be Marie. The titular character was previously exclusively the game boss character in Story Mode and Arcade Mode.

Marie will be launching in 2023, over a decade after her debut, in 2012 on PlayStation 3. Skullgirls is currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary, alongside it, its first season pass of new characters. The season pass for Skullgirls: 2nd Encore brought the first new characters to the game since 2015.

No gameplay was present in the teaser trailer and we likely won’t see any in the upcoming months.

In the meantime, the third character in the season pass, Black Dahlia is currently available in the alpha. The playable alpha is only available on Steam and exclusive to season one pass holders.

Marie will be playable for both Skullgirls: 2nd Encore and Skullgirls Mobile, a spin-off different from the main fighting game.

Skullgirls: 2nd encore is available on nearly all platforms from PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. However, the season one pass is only available on Playstation 4, and PC via steam. The developers plan on releasing an Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S port in 2022, however, there is no definitive release date.

The season pass content is still currently in development for Nintendo Switch, however, there is no definitive release date for it either.

Skullgirls Legacy

It’s impressive how long Skullgirls has been relevant in the realm of fighting games. Especially as a game that got its start as a crowdfunding title.

The fanbase has kept the game alive to allow for it still be receiving new content and branch out. Since its inception, Skullgirls has branched out with a spin-off mobile game, trading cards, and an upcoming Webtoon comic.

Skullgirls: 2nd Encore season one pass is available on PlayStation 4, and Steam for $34.99. The content includes characters Annie, and Umbrella who are currently available, and Black Dahlia who is in Alpha on steam. Other content includes new palette colors, the soundtrack, digital art, and a voice pack for Umbrella.
