Bridget Launches Guilty Gear -Strive- Season 2

Publish Date: August 15, 2022

Releasing a day after Evo Grand Finals, Bridget from Guilty Gear launches Season 2 for Guilty Gear -Strive-. The announcement came before the intense top 8 for Guilty Gear -Strive- at Evo 2022.

The game’s producer Ken Miyauchi came onto the stage and introduced a new music video for the song “Find Your One Way.” Afterward, Miyauchi brought out series creator, director, artist, and composer Daisuke Ishiwatari who thanked the audience and all who were competing at the tournament.

A versatile character who uses her yo-yo for long-range attacks and her bear Roger to attack opponents from the front and back.

Bridget is a returning character who was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX, in 2002. She has not been a playable character since Guilty Gear XX and its other iterations. She will be the first character with her release on Aug. 8, simultaneously launching season two.

Bridget was a very popular character, especially in Japan. In several polls taken before and after launch, Bridget was the number one requested character in Japan. Arc System Works will likely take more characters in the polls into consideration for future releases.

Arc System works plans to release three additional characters along with new stages throughout 2022 and 2023. The second character will release sometime in 2022, without a definitive release date.

Guilty Gear -Strive- Season 2 roadmap

Roadmap for season 2

Bridget Is Transgender

Guilty Gear -Strive- has always been a series with the representation of the LGBTQ+ community and continues with Bridget. Originally in Guilty Gear XX, Bridget identified as male, who was frequently confused as a female due to her young and feminine appearance. However, in -Strive- Bridget confirms her gender to be female in dialogue with the characters Ky Kiske, and Goldlewis Dickinson.

Bridget will be the second LGBTQ+ character in strive. Other LGBTQ+ characters include Testament, who is non-binary, and Venom, a gay male who is unfortunately missing as a playable character in -Strive- but appears in the Story Mode.

Bridget is a welcome addition to the excellent cast that -Strive- already has.

Guilty Gear’s Success

Guilty Gear -Strive- became one of the most popular fighting games in recent years, selling over a million units. A total of 2,161 players registered to compete at Evo 2022. It was the first year it became the game with the most competitors at Evo. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Guilty Gear -Strive- receive a third season pass or a major update with the same engine.

Other Updates

Alongside Bridget came a patch for the Steam and PlayStation 5 versions of the game. The PlayStation 5 patch fixes the input delay that was noticeably higher.

The patch for the Steam version reduces the wait time for connection to the server, which was also noticeably longer in comparison to other versions.

The updates come before the crossplay beta which is coming in the Fall of 2022. The update is likely to release alongside the second character in season pass two.
