After rumors had been swirling for the past few weeks, the September Nintendo Direct is real. This is a big one, the main dog, the real thing. It is supposedly 60 minutes of main Nintendo products. What should we expect? Here is Everything that was shown at the September 2025 Nintendo Direct.
The September 2025 Nintendo Direct as a reminder, is not a partner showcase or anything like that. This is all Nintendo games and products that are expected to be shown. New releases and updates to major games. Below is a constantly updating list of everything that is shown.
The second Super Mario Movie was announced, seeing Mario and his friends head to space. This will be the big event for the 40th anniversary of Mario and will be coming out in April 2026. The entire cast was confirmed to return, including Chris Pratt as Mario.
The Super Mario Galaxy games are finding their way to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in honor of the new movie and 40th anniversary celebration. They will arrive on October 2, 2025.
A new entry in the Mario Tennis series was announced for the Nintendo Switch 2. This game will come out on February 26, 2026.
A new Nintendo Switch 2 version of the latest Mario platformer was announced with a brand new area called Bellabel Park. This one will focus on new multiplayer game modes within the game.
This new Yoshi game will be the first in his franchise in some time. It is a new Platformer with a similar yarn or felt style that we have not seen in many years. This game will release in the Spring of 2026.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been lacking in terms of games at its launch.
So far, it has really just been Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza with some Nintendo Gamecube games for online and older releases like Cyberpunk. This feels like the opportunity for the Nintendo Switch 2 to get ahead in a big way. With Pokemon Legends Z-A and Kirby Air Riders on the way, sales expectations heading into the holiday season have to be high.
Now it feels like 2026 will certainly be a big year. Many are wondering which of the classic Nintendo Franchises will be coming back? Will we get a new Super Smash Brothers or will it just be a new entry with some new Fighters? Will Fire Emblem find its way onto the Nintendo Switch 2? Even Link and the Zelda Franchise.
With more of a roadmap expected to be revealed, it looks like Nintendo Switch 2 owners’ wait will have been more than worth it.
