Borderlands 4 Roadmap Breakdown

With the launch of Borderlands 4, a lot of conversation surrounded its poor PC performance, field of view for console players, and whatever rant Randy Pitchford decided to have on X that day. What gamers may not know is that Gearbox actually did release a Borderlands 4 roadmap before the official release of the title. What kind of content can Vault Hunters expect post-launch? Here’s the complete Borderlands 4 roadmap breakdown.

Borderlands 4 2025 Updates

Even though the game just came out, Gearbox isn’t done with Borderlands 4 in 2025. While there won’t be any additional story DLC, there are some new enemies, cosmetics, and events gamers can indulge in.

• Bounty Pack 1: Included in the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions of Borderlands 4, Bounty Pack 1 will include a Vault Card with 24 cosmetic items and 4 pieces of rerollable gear. Additionally, players will have 1 new Vault Hunter Style, 1 new vehicle, and 1 ECHO-4 Drone Skin. Aside from the cosmetics, there will be new missions, bosses, and legendary gear.
• Free Content: Horrors of Kairos is a mini Halloween event coming to Borderlands 4 this October. Paired with this event are a new type of weather, cosmetic items, and new legendary gear added to the world boss spawn pool. With the event being Halloween-themed, this seasonal activity will be active for a limited time only. Following the event, Invincible Bosses will be added to the title, who await challengers in new arenas on Kairos. These foes are said to be “bosses on steroids”. These enemies possess new, unique mechanics, massive health, and can dish out lethal attack damage. New weapons, along with an additional Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode Level, will be added.

Borderlands 4 2026 Updates

In 2026, Borderlands 4 has a lot of content planned. One of which is the first story pack being released for the title.

• Bounty Pack 2: Included in the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions of Borderlands 4, Bounty Pack 2 will include a Vault Card with 24 cosmetic items and 4 pieces of rerollable gear. Additionally, players will have 1 new Vault Hunter Style, 1 ECHO-4 Drone Skin, and 1 new vehicle. Aside from the cosmetics, there will be new missions, bosses, and legendary gear. Along with the release of Bounty Pack 2 will be a new kind of gun rarity, Pearlescent. These drops are stated to be incredibly difficult to find, but their power level will match their coveted rarity.
• Story Pack 1: Included in the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions of Borderlands 4, this pack includes 4 Vault Hunter Heads and styles, 4 Weapon Skins, 2 Vehicle Paintjobs, 3 ECHO-4 Drone Skin & Attachments, and a new ECHO-4 Frame. There will also be the appearance of the first DLC Vault Hunter, accompanied by new legendary gear, missions, and a map zone.

“The first Story Pack will be a bloody, cosmic-horror-inspired tale entitled Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. As you might’ve guessed, it stars the one-and-only Ellie, Pandoran mechanic extraordinaire and daughter of Moxxi.”

Beyond 2026, it was only announced that there will be 2 more Bounty Packs. There will also be another Story Pack and more Invincible Bosses.
