Borderlands 4 Performance Issues Are Fixed?

Publish Date: September 15, 2025

Since its launch on September 12th, Borderlands 4’s Steam review page is riddled with comments regarding the game’s ongoing performance issues. Then Randy Pitchford went on X, and he said what he had to say about the matter. At the end of the day, though, only one thing matters. Are the Borderlands 4 performance issues fixed? Well, yes and no.

How To Fix Borderlands 4 Performance Issues

Gearbox released an update that was stated to address these performance issues that PC players were experiencing. These experiences ranged from loss of frames, constant lag, or the game just straight up crashing.

“Today, we’re releasing a new update to help improve stability for a wide range of PCs” – Gearbox.

Gearbox gave one more possible solution if issues persist. It was highly recommended that, at any time gamers make a change to any of their graphics settings, their shaders will need to be recompiled. Be advised that this can take up to at least 15 minutes.

Does this mean the performance issues are fixed? Coming from first-hand experience, no. The issues still occur, just not as frequently, if anything at all. The Steam review page is still receiving poor reviews regarding performance, even after everything. On the same side of that coin, some gamers are saying they’re experiencing no troubles at any time. It’s best to update the title, follow Gearbox’s advice, and hope for the best. There are no official patch notes, so it’s currently impossible to see what changes occurred.

“Thanks again for joining us on this journey, Vault Hunters — we’re just getting started. We’re continuing to read your feedback, planning additional updates, and will have more details to come.” – Gearbox
