Best Backyard Baseball 1997 Team for Steam Release
Before diving into the Best Backyard Baseball 1997 Team for Steam Release please remember that this is completely subjective. There may be players you are better with than others. That being said, most of these players are the best you can get and we will not only give you the list but our reasoning as to why. They will be laid out like a traditional baseball batting order from 1-9 and will have their positions attached as well.
1. Pete Wheeler – CF
Pete is hitting here not only because he is the fastest player in the game, in truth you have the four fastest players in the game on this team, but he also has one of the best bunts in the game. Try for line-drives and grounders and watch Pete fly. Also he is a solid centerfielder due to his high speed, good catching ability and arm.
2. Kiesha Phillips – 3B
Simply put, Kiesha has one of the sweetest swings in the game. She can hit liners and for power when you need her to. She is also tall and can knockdown some of those line-drives at third base. Add in a good arm and you some speed and she is truly one of the best all-around players in the game.
3. Pablo Sanchez – SS
He is the secret weapon and should always be in your lineup at the two or three hole if you want the best lineup.
4. Achmed Khan – LF
Only Pablo has more power but Achmed’s contact is actually better and according to the secret stats, he is the best overall hitter in the game. Unfortunately his defense is not great. He makes up for it with some decent speed and can catch the ball well. Oh and he has the best song in the game and it is really not very close. Rock and Roll!
5. Mikey Thomas – C
Mikey hits nukes. He is the best lefty in the game and his behind the scenes batting stats are also better than Pablo’s but right behind Achmeds. He has a cannon for an arm and is perfect for throwing runners out from behind the plate. His biggest issue is that he is the slowest player in the game.
6. Amir Khan – 2B
Because you have Achmed, Amir goes from pitching focused to hitting and honestly that is fine because his hitting becomes the third best in the game right behind Mikey’s. He also speeds up and can still be a nice closer for you later in the game. His defense is just okay but he becomes a menace in the lineup and still is pushed back to the six spot.
7. Jocinda Smith – 1B
Another top hitter but not due to power. While she has that, Jocinda is a contact machine. Her swing is a bit off at times but once you master it she is fantastic. Add onto this that she is one of the best fielders in the game and you have a player that lives up to the MVP name.
8. Luanne Lui – P
We had to make a choice between her and Amir as he is technically the best statistical pitcher in the game but not having Achmed was just not worth it. Luanne is lights out and rarely will ever need any help on the mound. She does run out of stamina so go at hitters. With her amazing arm comes quick legs. She can laydown some bunts to help the team and special hits really give her a nice boost.
9. Dante Robinson – RF
This last spot was tough but we decided his speed, defense and the little pitching he offers was worth the last spot. Dante is really fast and a fantastic groundball hitter. Add in that his arm is the most accurate in the game and you have a solid right fielder.
Other Options
- You could take out Achmed and keep Amir as your starting pitcher.
- You can replace two players at nearly any position with the Weber sisters as they become some of the best players in the game if they are on the same team.
- Tony Delvecchio is the best catcher in the game and a decent hitter.
- Other pitching options include Angela Delvecchio and Kenny Kawaguchi.
- If you really want Stephanie Morgan you can put he in instead of Dante Robinson and move Pablo to outfield.
