Baldur’s Gate 3 launches with three different difficulty settings for players to enjoy as they play through the title. Each setting has something different to offer and provides a different experience. Keep in mind that each difficulty can be changed during play so players aren’t locked to one choice.
The Balanced mode is like your bread-and-butter mode for Baldur’s Gate 3. Combat isn’t necessarily hard, but it isn’t easy either. Hence the name Balanced mode. It’s essentially the default mode that most players will select on their first run.
For those who just want to enjoy the entertaining story, Explorer mode is just for you. In this mode, friendly NPCs are harder to kill, and trader prices are better compared to other modes. Combat is overall a lot easier so you can get back to the story as quickly as possible. It’s more roleplay than anything, similar to a DND campaign.
Tactician Mode is the hardest difficulty setting in Baldur’s Gate 3. This mode requires intense strategic combat and careful planning. One slight misstep might ruin a fight. It’s definitely for more experienced players who know what they’re doing. Charging into battle without a plan won’t make you successful in the end.
Players can in fact look forward to creating their very own adventuring group as Baldur’s Gate 3 does in fact have a online coop option. A max of four party members can come together and enjoy the experience together. Each member will be able to control one character each.
