Apex Legends War Games Patch Notes

Publish Date: April 13, 2021

Mad Maggie is changing the game of Apex Legends once more. This time, however, it has nothing to do with ring flares. Here is a look at the Apex Legends War Games Patch Notes.

She will be introducing 5 different takeovers over the next two weeks, each having a notable change to the way players experience the battlefield:

  • Armor Regen: Tuesday, April 13 -> Thursday, April 15
  • Ultra Zones: Thursday, April 15 -> Monday, April 19
  • Auto Banners: Monday, April 19 -> Wednesday, April 21
  • Killing Time: Wednesday, April 21 -> Friday, April 23
  • Second Chance: Friday, April 23 -> Tuesday, April 27

There will also be skins available for purchase, but they cannot be crafted since this is not a Collection Event. They are available for 1800 Apex Coins apiece ($18 USD).

War Games Modes

Armor Regen

The first of the limited-time takeovers is Armor Regen. Pretty self-explanatory, but players will regenerate their armor while out of combat. The specifics are: after 8 seconds, shields will recharge at a rate of 12 per second. If a shield gets fully cracked from damage, however, the player will have to wait 16 seconds for it to start growing back. To keep things even more interesting, the basic Shield Cells will be removed from the loot pool. Players will still be able to find the larger Shield Batteries, but will need to rely on those crucial 8 seconds if they need lighter heals. This mode will run from April 13-15.

Ultra Zones

The second takeover is Ultra Zones. This makes 3 separate Hot Zones to drop in, each with good gear and a chance at fully-kitted gold weapons or gold gear. Each of these zones is also covered by a Flash Point, which were last seen back in Season 6. These look like a big fluorescent bubble around the zone, and players inside will regenerate their health and shields. This mode will run from April 15-19.

Auto Banners

The third takeover is Auto Banners, where the banners of your dead teammates will be automatically retrieved. This means players don’t have to worry about running back into dicey situations to save their team, but instead can get out of Dodge and respawn them somewhere else. Expect to see plenty of mobile respawn beacons amidst the loot. This mode will run from April 19-21.

Killing Time

The fourth mode to shake things up is called Killing Time. In this takeover, each elimination will take several seconds off of the Ring timer. If there are a lot of fights early, players will less time to loot and have to move to safety. This will speed up the game overall and prevent those odd matches where there are only five teams left after Round 1. This mode will run from April 21-23.

Second Chance

Closing out with the last of the five new takeover modes introduced, Second Chance gives every player a revive token each game. These allow the player to immediately respawn themselves directly above where they died. Players will keep their current loadout, and their current shields and health will be refilled to full. These respawn tokens will be automatically used if the player is finished, but downed players can also opt to use them and bleed out so they can get back in the fight faster. This mode will run from April 23-27.

Event Rewards

Like the other limited-time events, players can snag some free cosmetics just from completing challenges. This includes a gun charm that looks like a thermite grenade, epic skins for Crypto and Rampart, and the ultimate reward is a new skin for the 30-30 Repeater.

In addition to these free cosmetics, there are new Legendary recolored skins available for purchase in the store. These are the skins from the Iron Crown event back in Season 2, and include Wraith, Gibraltar, Bloodhound, Mirage, Pathfinder, and Lifeline. This skin gallery can be found here. And that wraps up the Apex Legends War Games patch notes. Stay tuned into TGH for all Apex updates and tips!
