Farthest Frontier has become one of the best survival city-builder games out there. While there is plenty of replayability, maybe you are looking for a slight change of pace? Here are three games we think you could try that are just like Farthest Frontier.
Below are the three games that we feel are most like Farthest Frontier. They fit in the same genre and some of them will even be the same in terms of their settings. There are other games out there that fit within this as well so keep that in mind.
This one is a bit of a cheat because of the fact that Anno 117 is not out yet. That being said, the Anno series, in general, is very much like Farthest Frontier. You are building your settlements, mining and farming resources and you have to keep your population happy.
The biggest differences between these games are the settings. While Farthest Frontier is closer to the medieval age, both of these Anno games are during the industrial age and Roman Empire respectively. So if you are looking for a game that is in either of those eras but like Farthest Frontier then either of these will work.

Of all of these games, Banished feels like the older sibling to Farthest Frontier. It originally came out in 2014, well before city-builders became as popular as they are now, and was quickly beloved. But like older siblings, it did not have many examples to learn from and it left the door open for games like Farthest Frontier, to borrow and enhance the ideas it laid out.
This game has the same feel but the graphics are worse and a lot of the parts of the game are not as well-developed. That being said, if you are looking for a game that is a little cheaper and one that is essentially just an older version of Farthest Frontier but without things like combat and more cohesive ages, then Banished may be your best shot.
Just as Banished felt like the older sibling to Farthest Frontier, Manor Lords is likely the younger more tech savvy sibling to Farthest Frontier. This game was released in 2024 and like Farthest Frontier, is in early access. The way that farms, markets and shops work is relatively similar.
Where it differs is that Manor Lords is much more focused on combat and has land that players can actually conquer on the map. Along with that, you are also able to go down and run around with your villagers as you act more as a “Lord” and less of a nameless person in the sky.
Right now these games are pretty similar but as early access goes on for both of them, it will be a raise to see who can take the top spot. Either way, if you are looking for a more Total War-style of battling then this game is for you.
