ESPN has reported that he will get a six-year, $24 million deal.
Cronin, 47, coached for three seasons at Murray State before getting the job at Cincinnati. He spent 13 seasons at Cincinnati, which is headlined by a Sweet 16 appearance in 2012. At both schools, he has a career record of 365-171.
He will take over for Steve Alford, who was fired midway through the season.
