Martell was the backup to Dwayne Haskins at Ohio State this season after being a highly-touted recruit. Now Martell will sit out the 2019 season, unless he can obtain a waiver to play from the NCAA next season.
At Ohio State, Martell redshirted in 2017, but got limited playing time in 2018. In the 2018 season, he threw for 269 yards and one touchdown and also rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns.
Martell will play for Manny Diaz, who was just hired by Miami this offseason.
