The Minnesota Twins have found a new manager in Rocco Baldelli the team announced on social media Thursday morning.
Baldelli has no managerial experience, but has been coaching since 2011. He has worked in the Rays’ organization as a special assistant, first base coach and major league field-coordinator over the last several years.
The 37-year-old joins a new trend of major league teams hiring managers who have no previous managerial experience.
Minnesota will bring on Baldelli to replace Paul Molitor, who was the manager from 2015 through 2018. Molitor went 305-343 for a .471 win percentage in his time with the Twins.
The Twins will try to make the postseason for the first time since 2017, when they lost in the AL Wild Card Game against the New York Yankees.
