The Trail Blazers are trying to do anything they can to keep their star player in Portland. Damian Lillard and the team are reportedly working on a deal that will pay the point guard $258 million over six years. The deal was first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Lillard, 28, is a four-time All-Star who has played his entire seven-year career in Portland. He has averaged 25.8 points and 6.9 assists per game.
Portland was able to make the Western Conference Finals this season with help from great play by Lillard. With the Warriors awaiting free agency decisions and players to return from injury, the Blazers could be one of the frontrunners in the Western Conference now that Lillard plans to sign an extension.
