The Portland Trail Blazers have traded Meyers Leonard and Mo Harkless to the Miami Heat for Hassan Whiteside as first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Whiteside, 30, just accepted his player option with the Heat and now is heading to Portland to play the final year of his deal. He averaged 12.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game last season for the Miami Heat.
With the addition of Whiteside, the Trail Blazers look to contend again in the Western Conference. They’ll have Dame Lillard, C.J. McCollum Jusuf Nurkic and now Whiteside to go with their core.
Miami will receive a solid backup center in Meyers Leonard, who can also stretch the floor. He averaged 5.9 points and shot 45 percent from deep for the Trail Blazers last season.
Harkless is a bench-wing who averaged 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Trail Blazers last season.
