Orlando Magic Trade for Markelle Fultz

The Orlando Magic will receive Markelle Fultz in exchange for Jonathon Simmons, Oklahoma City’s first-round pick and Cleveland’s second-round pick from the 76ers. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Fultz was on the move first, while The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the assets the 76ers would receive in return.

Philadelphia will gear up for a playoff run with the acquisition of Simmons, who figures to be a solid bench player. He is averaging 6.9 points per game in 20.6 minutes played per game this season for the Magic.

Fultz, the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the 76ers, has missed time with a shoulder injury and has had to rework his shot over his time in the league. He is currently rehabbing and has averaged 8.2 points per game over his career.

The Magic acquiring Fultz and picks allows them to build for the future, while also giving up an asset that is only signed through next season.
