Neal Brown has been hired on a six-year contract by West Virginia to be their new head football coach according to Yahoo’s Pete Thamel.
Brown will replace former coach Dana Holgorsen, who accepted the head coaching position at the University of Houston just a few days ago.
West Virginia gets one of the best young head coaches on the market in Brown. In four seasons at Troy, Brown led the team to a 35-16 record. The last three seasons, the Trojans have won 10 games and been a consistent contender in the Sun Belt.
He was also able to lead Troy to victories over traditional powers in Nebraska and LSU, which has helped him make a name for himself.
Brown is formerly an offensive coordinator at Kentucky and will have to remake an offense at West Virginia that loses Will Grier, David Sills and Gary Jennings.
West Virginia went 8-4 this season, but lost their last three games of the season including their bowl game against Syracuse.
