The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 20 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the Madden 20 questionable ratings: Cleveland Browns.
Joe Schobert- 79
Schobert has been a solid linebacker for the Browns for a few seasons, but still isn’t really recognized on a national scale. Last season, he had 103 tackles and three sacks in just 13 games. Although he didn’t have a full season to prove himself, he played well and should have a rating that reflects that.
There are some players rated at an 81, like Roquan Smith, who should have a higher rating, but there are others that Schobert is comparable to at that rating. Zach Brown played all 16 games and finished the season with 96 tackles and one sack. Schobert, at the very least, deserves to be on par with Brown.
Adjusted Rating- 81
Larry Ogunjobi- 77
Ogunjobi had a decent rookie season in 2017, but played great in 2018. He had 5.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss, which is impressive for a defensive tackle. His 77 rating in Madden 20 doesn’t accurately depict how good of a player Ogunjobi has been.
Tampa Bay rookie Vita Vea had a rough first season in the NFL with just three sacks and four tackles for loss. For some reason, he was given a Madden rating of 80. Ogunjobi deserves that rating, while Vea likely should be docked a few points.
Adjusted Rating- 80
Antonio Callaway- 75
While he has had some off-the-field issues, Callaway had a pretty good rookie season for the Browns. He finished the year with 43 receptions for 586 yards and five touchdowns. Despite putting up those good numbers as a rookie, he was rated as a 75 by Madden.
Michael Gallup played 16 games for the Dallas Cowboys last season and had 33 receptions for 507 yards and two touchdowns. Gallup was given a 78 rating despite falling short when stacked up against Callaway. Callaway should be boosted as a result.
Adjusted Rating- 78
Rashard Higgins- 73
Much like Callaway, Higgins had a good season and was given a rating by Madden that was too low. Higgins received a 73 rating after posting a year where he had 39 receptions for 572 yards and four touchdowns. Considering he only came up a little short from what Callaway did, Higgins also deserves a better rating.
In 14 games, Ryan Grant had 35 receptions for 334 yards and a touchdown. He was given a 77 rating by Madden. Higgins should have a rating that is comparable to, if not better than, Grant.
Adjusted Rating- 77
