The Los Angeles Lakers are bringing back point guard Rajon Rondo and are signing center DeMarcus Cousins to a deal.
Rondo, 33, signed a one-year deal with the Lakers before last season. He figures to be the Lakers’ starting point guard this season after averaging 9.2 points and eight assists per game last season. Rondo signed a veteran-minimum with the team.
Cousins didn’t have too much of a market for him, so he decided to sign a veteran-minimum deal with the Lakers. The 28-year-old signed with the Warriors last season while he recovered from a torn Achilles. He came back from injury with 16.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, helping the Warriors make the NBA Finals. Cousins figures to be the starting center for the Lakers next season.
The Lakers also brought back Alex Caruso, who had a productive season for them last year. Caruso, 25, averaged 9.2 points per game and shot 48 percent from behind the arc. He likely won’t start, but will provide a scoring punch off the bench for the Lakers next season. He earned a two-year, $5.5 million deal.
