The Los Angeles Lakers are sending Mo Wagner, Jemerrio Jones, Isaac Bonga and a 2020 second round pick to the Wizards to clear up enough cap space to sign a max free agent. This was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Lakers are trading Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga and Jemerrio Jones to Wizards as part of the Anthony Davis deal with New Orleans, league sources tell @ZachLowe_NBA and me. Deal clears contracts and creates more cap space for free agency.

In addition to this move, Wojnarowski reported that Anthony Davis will waive his $4 million trade kicker.

Both of these moves combined will give the Lakers $32 million in cap space, which means they can get one max free agent or can spread the money around to several players.
The Lakers needed to find a way to get enough money to offer a max deal to offer free agents on July 6, the first day to sign players to contracts after the moratorium period, which starts on June 30. Now the Lakers will be able to meet with high-priority free agents and can have the money to land one.
