Murray was formerly selected No. 9 overall by the Oakland Athletics in the 2018 MLB Draft. The Athletics allowed Kyler Murray to play a season of football at Oklahoma before reporting this spring to play baseball.
In his only season as a starting quarterback at Oklahoma, Murray was able to win the Heisman Trophy and lead the Sooners to the College Football Playoff. He finished the season with 4,361 passing yards, 1,001 rushing yards and 54 total touchdowns.
After the season he entered his name into the 2019 NFL Draft, but kept his options open. Now he has chosen to play just football.
He is a projected early first-round pick for the NFL Draft, which takes place from April 25 through April 27.
