Georgia quarterback Justin Fields, a former five-star prospect, will transfer to Ohio State according to multiple reports on Friday.
ESPN’s recruiting rankings had Fields ranked as the top player in the 2018 recruiting class. At Georgia, he failed to see consistent playing time behind starter Jake Fromm.
Fields will apply for a waiver to be able to play in 2019 after enrolling in the school next week. If he is unable to get a waiver, he will sit out the 2019 season before being eligible to play. With Dwayne Haskins likely going pro, the Buckeyes will probably start Tate Martell for next season if Fields is unable to play. Fields will have to battle for Martell for playing time whether it is next season or in 2020.
This season at Georgia, Fields had 328 passing yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions on 69.2% completion. He also rushed 266 yards and four touchdowns.
