Jay Ajayi out for year with torn ACL

The Eagles placed running back Jay Ajayi on IR on Monday citing a torn ACL according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Ajayi suffered the injury in the loss against the Vikings on Sunday. After the game, Ajayi cited that he was confused by the play calling and wanted the team to run the ball more.

The injury means that the Eagles will be relying on backups Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood, Darren Sproles and Josh Adams to fill the void.

Philadelphia acquired Ajayi last year from the Dolphins for a fourth-round pick. In four games this season, Ajayi had 184 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
