Former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts will be transferring to Oklahoma he announced in an article for the Players’ Tribune.
Because he graduated from Alabama, Hurts will be immediately eligible to play for Oklahoma next season.
Hurts will help fill the void at Oklahoma as Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray goes pro in football or baseball. The Alabama transfer will try to be the third Oklahoma quarterback in three years to win the Heisman and lead Oklahoma to the College Football Playoff.
At Alabama, Hurts was a starter as a freshman and sophomore, leading Clemson to two National Championship Games. Alabama lost the first in 2016, but won the second after the 2017 season. Hurts was pulled from that game in the second half in favor of Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa started every game in the 2018 season, leading Alabama to yet another National Championship Game, while Hurts was his backup.
In his career, Hurts has thrown for 5,626 yards, 48 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 62.9% completion. He has also accounted for 1,976 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on the ground.
