The Cavaliers have fired head coach Tyrone Lue early on Sunday morning according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Cleveland has started off this season with a 0-6 record and doesn’t rank in the top 20 in points, rebounds, assists or points allowed per game. Without LeBron James, the Cavaliers are struggling and it is only worsened by the fact that Kevin Love has had to sit out two games with an injured foot.
Lue has been the head coach of the Cavaliers since the organization fired David Blatt midway through the 2015-2016 season. In his tenure, Lue has posted a 128-83 record with the Cavaliers. He coached them to an NBA Finals in all three seasons he was the coach at the end of the season and has one championship in 2016.
Assistant coach Larry Drew will be promoted to interim coach.
