Arians retired from coaching after the 2017 seasons when he coached Arizona. He spent five seasons as the head coach in Arizona, but also has head coaching experience in Indianapolis, where he filled in for Chuck Pagano while he battled cancer in 2012. He has a career record of 49-30-1. In addition to being a head coach, Arians has been an offensive coordinator in the NFL with stops in Indianapolis, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
The Buccaneers have hired Arians to replace Dirk Koetter, who had a 19-29 record over three seasons in Tampa Bay.
